WHM Blasts into the Future with Blast to the Past After Hours

I was not there for the inception of West Houston Muscle. I understand that the beginnings were small, at a small location, but the heart of the club was the same: enthusiasts were meeting to share their love of muscle cars. When Sean Tajipour first started his visionary idea in January of 2009 I'm sure he had a picture in his mind about about how epic he wanted it to be. I know that he wanted to give the west side of Houston something amazing. And he has done just that.

Muscle car enthusiasts can expect great things from both this club and it's president. I have watched it grow since my addition to the club in the summer of 2009. It gives car lovers from many different backgrounds the opportunity to talk shop with each other, while also giving spectators the opportunity to enjoy and admire muscle cars from every generation. And, as far as the kids out there coming to shows, it gives them the opportunity to become interested in something that their parents love to do; as well as perhaps fostering a future WHMer.

On August 27th, Sean saw a new part of his vision come to life. After months of planning and hard work, he watched as his meet grew to 700 plus cars and over 1000 people in attendance. It is not a stretch to say everyone was in awe of the grandness, or should I say "epicness", of the event. I'm sure his feelings were a mixture of joy and amazement. Caliber Collision's parking lot filled to capacity quickly, and then took a swift turn to overflowing. The volunteers were constantly busy all night directing traffic; controlling the gate; selling raffle tickets, t-shirts, beverages; and doing anything else that needed to be done in a timely and efficient manner. The sponsors were in attendance to show their support of Sean and the club, and the spectators were having fun gazing at the collection of amazing cars. Everyone there knew they were a part of something big, and they were glad to be a part of it.

What's next, you wonder? I am willing to bet lots. I don't believe that Sean has created his only masterpiece. In fact, I'd be willing to bet, as he likes to say, "It is going to be epic!" Be on the lookout for more to come!

Cammy takes a trip to the Lonestar Shootout

The 2010 Lone Star shoot out was held in Baytown, Texas. I had the pleasure of attending as a volunteer due to being a member of WHM. The day started out with an early alarm (around 3am....yowzaa!) in order to get to Baytown and the track on time. By the way, there were wild boar in my front yard that morning, but that is a whole other story!! It was raining and cold out, but thankful the rain died off so we could get the cars cleaned back up. I met up with the club, registered Cammy in the pure stock category, and proceeded to man the registration table. It was neat to help out and be able to enjoy the racing and variety of cars being shown.

It was a fun event and it very was enjoyable to get to spend time with West Houston Muscle. Cammy even came home with her first two awards: Editor's Choice Top 40 Muscle Car and Event Winner for her category! She is such a good car! :)

By the way, don't forget to check out West Houston Muscle's site to find out more about their club. Also, the next Lone Star Shoot Out is scheduled for November, so you should think about going to that! Click the links below!
